The Calamity: The Battle of Cartenau

Took part in the Battle of Cartenau together with her century, alongside the rest of VIIth Imperial Legion. She lost most of the century in the battles prior, with the rest getting wiped after Bahamut's release. By the time only a handful of her soldiers were left, she no longer shared the same "enthusiasm" towards their Legatus.

Year 0 of Seventh Umbral Era

She awakens at the bottom of a small cave system, in a puddle of water. Her armour is destroyed, cold quickly gets to her. Knowing the iron would only slow her down, she cast it aside in pain. Although her head is pounding, she assesses her situation and acts immediately. Pondering how many hours must have passed meanwhile, Caerulea fixes the position of her forearm in a makeshift splint. She feels the blood mixed with mud on the back of her head, looking for any further damage to it.The sun is rising, and although the rays only hit the edges, it is enough light for her to at least see how deep she is.

(...)Not much, about five or six yalms. The issue was that the edges, although rocky, were pointing downwards, taking away any hope of getting out. I shuffled through the belt pouch, but found nothing of importance.
So cold. Tergestum's howling blizzards felt like gentle summer breeze compared to this.
I called and called, until my voice got tired and hoarse. The sun was nearing the horizon when someone finally heard me, and I was at the point of dying from either exhaustion or hypothermia.
Savages. They threw me a rope, told me to climb, making me explain my rather pathetic situation. 'Just wrap it 'round yourself then, better than croak in this pit.' I couldn't agree more.
Ascending towards the edge, they noticed my colours, but gave no mind. And I couldn't care less to pretend some kind of superiority over my savage saviours.

Gave me something bitter to drink and wiggled their shining wand on me. Enough to get me on my feet. The leader of theirs, an older Elezen lady, explained to me that they are scavenging for survivors and will be back to get me after they finish this side. My head was spinning. How could time drag its claws across this land in such a short time? And what was with the crystals everywhere? Was I dreaming? Was I moved to a different place? They return after the sun hid behind the horizon and take Caerulea with them. Fed her, healed her, gave her fresh set of clothes. She did not utter much save for a few thanks. Even though she studied enough to know how to maintain a conversation, there was no will or motivation to do so. If there were other Garlean survivors, they did not tell her about them, and after weeks went by, she naturally came to conclusion that even if her comrades lived, affiliation hardly mattered in this state.After months spent in Mor Dhona, Caerulea quo Invidia takes the name Nerva Nerona, and wanders through Eorzea, earning her coin by lending her skills to whoever asked.

3-4 of seventh umbral era [28-32]

Year 3 of Seventh Umbral Era

Nerva is being consumed by guilt over Project Meteor, and her past, the more she discovers about these savages. Waking up every day in sweat after night filled with terrors since the Calamity, she starts seeing visions in the broad daylight too. Meteors falling down, howling. "Too much aether," she's told repeatedly when she asks if mayhap someone else saw the same. It looks so similar to Cartenau, but yet... the place is off.

Year 4 of Seventh Umbral Era

Nerva searches the land for the place from her visions, hoping that there may be an answer waiting for her. Or at least a relief from the endless nightmares.
Finally, she stumbles upon it, covered in Coerthan snow. Strange beings emerge and attack her, but she easily puts them to rest. Nerva decides to stay the night there.

(...) I heard a soft voice calling me. I got out of the tent, snowflakes falling on my head. I saw a faint shimmer, and got closer to it. My head started pounding, as it tends with my dreams. The nearer I was, the more unbearable the pain was. I came upon a gleaming blue crystal, and that's where the ache rendered me unconscious.
Stars. Meteors, rocks, sky debris. Sinking, falling down.
I woke up.
The crystal, it was gone! But the light was still glittering upon the snow. It seemed to have come from... me?
The pain stopped there and then, along with the visions of doom, and it rarely returned since then. Instead, I was able to witness images of the past. Of people I met and talked to. Not very often, but often enough to concern me. (...)Echo. What a thoughtful gift for me, a traitor to all kin. Better fighter and diplomat with it. First house

A tiny house in the Mist with a beautiful view. Payed down partially from savings and also from a large generous gift.
Later turned into a small private café for friends to stop by and enjoy.
Nerva befriended a Viera man that was suprisingly also formerly inscribed in the Garlean Legions. They set out to travel around Eorzea and Othard together, as fellow medics.

Tavern & Rikha

Moved to a medium house in the midst of Goblet, after having to part with significant sum to be even able to move there (Garleans not welcome apparently.) It was around that time Nerva came across a small Miqo'te girl Rikha, and gladly welcomed her in her home. Together, they set on opening a small tavern, popular for its events and good selection of exotic foods.

Museum Investor

Nerva personally donated some great pieces from her collection, and was very saddened when the Museum had to close due to change in management and funding withdrawals.
Rikha was accepted into one of the many academic groups in Sharlayan, and set off to further pursue her dreams of becoming an Aetherologist, specializing in the research of aether affinity in pureblood Garleans and their not-so-pure descendants.

Aohiru-gumi & OCTAGON

Nerva, Azar, and many of their friends came together in Kugane and formed a deliquent group known as Aohiru-gumi. They acquired a mansion in the Mist where they sucessfully did all the necessary money laundering, exortion, prostitution, drug distribution, and last but not least gambling. The group disbanded due to disagreements between two of the co-founders, with people taking sides and fighting amongst themselves. Nerva and Azar took the remaining investment and went travelling for another year.

Nosocomium Fragum

The original clinic was founded during Aohiru-gumi, as means to give proper health care to the gang members. Closed when Nerva and Azar went on their year-long vacation and reconstructed shortly after their return, from the money they obtained from selling the OCTAGON club.Up until that point, Nerva did her best to hide her Garlean affiliation, but after the last reopening, she decided to do a 180 and uses her roots to further advertise "alternative" health care. Although she does have some magick training and is able to cast some minor spells (Esuna, Care), her advantages lie in the great knowledge of the inner bodyworks, ailments, and cures that she learned during her studies in Garlemald and as a field medic.To some, Nerva's treatment is preferable, since it is much easier on one's aether stability and does not cause the related sickness. Many elsewhere shunned folks come to ask to be patients too, from "primitive" tribes' people to purebloods of the empire. She does not discriminate and since she is able to cover the basic expenses and costs of materials, many less-fortunate souls seek her too. And the insurance is dirt cheap!Not everything is nice and rosy though, and her small hospital is commonly under attack of vandals, suspicious characters, and discrimination - be it from the bureaucratic Ul'dah or whenever a minor plague sweeps through. Ala Mhigans in particular seem to loath her and her services, no wonder.

IACTA ALEA EST

The discovery of high roller gambles, deathrolls, and nights of blackjack wins allowed Nerva to reconstruct Azar's house into a small underground gambling den, perhaps a nod to their time with Aohiru-gumi.The house contained a massive master bedroom complete with walk-in greenhouse baths, two separate guest bedrooms, a kitchen with dining room, and finally: whole floor dedicated to making the money rain! A podium for dancers, small bar, big gambling table for blackjack, and a separate room for other card and dice games, and of course, Triple Triad.The gambling proved to be so profitable that Nerva purchased an apartment close to her hospital, so that she can easily pop in when necessary. She also employed more people for her hospital, leaving her with much needed free time.
